About these airplane coloring pages

Propeller planes, jets and a seaplane with floats all fly through these airplane coloring pages. Children aged 3 to 5 can start with a small propeller plane passing a cloud or a big jet with round windows. Ages 6 to 8 get a takeoff beside the control tower and a seaplane landing on a lake, while hard and expert pages show a jet soaring over snowy mountains, a biplane looping over farmland and a patterned jet above scalloped clouds.

They are handy before a family trip: color the takeoff page together and talk through what happens at check-in, security and boarding. In class, pair the pages with paper airplanes and test which folds fly the farthest.

Airplane facts to share

  1. The first powered, controlled airplane flight took place in 1903 near Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, and lasted 12 seconds.
  2. Airplane wings are shaped so that air flowing around them creates lift, which holds the plane up.
  3. A floatplane has floats instead of wheels, so it can take off from and land on water.

Color idea: Keep the body white or silver with one bold stripe and tail color, then shade the sky from pale blue at the horizon to deeper blue above.

Airplane coloring page questions

Which airplane pages suit young children?

The easy propeller plane and the jet airliner each show one aircraft from the side with big shapes and a single cloud or simple sky. They suit ages 3 to 5 and are a good way to name parts like the wings, tail and engines.

Can I use these pages before a trip?

Yes. The takeoff page shows a passenger plane lifting off a runway beside a control tower, a windsock and a row of runway lights. Coloring it together is a calm way to explain what to expect before a child's first flight.

Do the planes show airline names or logos?

No. All aircraft are generic, without airline names, logos or tail markings. Kids can invent their own airline colors, such as a stripe along the windows and a bold shape on the tail fin.
