About these adult coloring pages
These printable adult coloring pages are the Expert-level designs from every collection: animals and dragons filled with decorative patterns, mandalas and geometric designs, florals, and richly detailed scenes with ornamental borders worked into the art. If you're looking for detailed coloring pages with lots of small spaces, this is the place to start, and the designs are aimed at teens as well as adults.
Most designs reward fine-tip markers, gel pens or sharp colored pencils. Download any adult coloring pages PDF in Letter or A4, and print on heavier paper if your printer allows, so layered pencil and marker hold up better. If you use coloring pages for adults to wind down in the evening, pick a palette of four or five colors before you start; the page comes together faster and looks more balanced.
Quick tips
- Choose four or five colors before starting so the page stays balanced.
- Use light card stock for markers and gel pens to limit bleed-through.
- Layer colored pencils lightly, building darker tones in two or three passes.
Adult Coloring Pages: questions and answers
What makes a page Expert level?
Expert designs are made for teens and adults. Shapes are filled with intricate decorative patterns, mandala-style fills or ornamental borders inside the art, or the page is a richly detailed scene with many small areas. Expect a longer session than with Hard pages, which are designed for ages 9 and up.
What paper and pens work best?
Standard printer paper works well for colored pencils. For markers or gel pens, heavier paper or light card stock reduces bleed-through, if your printer can feed it. Print one design per sheet, single-sided, and keep a scrap page underneath while you color.
Are there adult versions of every subject?
Yes. Every subject on the site, from cats and unicorns to Christmas trees and mandalas, includes Expert designs. Browse them all here, or open any subject page and look for the Expert designs alongside the easier levels.
Are these pages good for teens?
Yes. Expert is designed for teens and adults, so these work as coloring sheets for teens who find kids' pages too simple. For something in between, try Expert designs in the cute style, which keep a playful look while adding intricate patterns.
