About these tiger coloring pages
Wild tigers live in places as different as mangrove swamps, snowy forests and jungles across Asia, and these tiger coloring pages visit all three. Bold stripes and almost no background make the easy pages, such as a cub sitting on its big paws, right for ages 3 to 5. A river, a rocky ledge or tall grass joins the tiger at ages 6 to 8, while the hard pages give ages 9 and up full habitat scenes.
A detailed portrait and a mandala tiger give teens and adults something to linger over. For a geography tie-in, give each student a tiger coloring page from a different habitat and have them find that part of Asia on a map. It also opens a talk about why tigers need protection.
Also in winter coloring pages.
Tiger facts to share
- Tigers are the largest wild cats in the world.
- No two tigers have the same stripe pattern, and the stripes show on their skin as well as their fur.
- Unlike many cats, tigers enjoy water and are strong swimmers.
Color idea: Layer yellow under orange for a glowing coat, keep the muzzle, belly and eyebrow patches white, and color the stripes last in black or deep brown.
Tiger coloring page questions
Which tiger pages are best for little kids?
The easy pages suit ages 3 to 5: a tiger cub sitting on its big paws, a tiger taking a big step and a sleepy tiger giving a yawn. Each has one large animal, thick outlines and wide stripes that are easy to color.
Where do the tigers in these pictures live?
The scenes match real tiger habitats in Asia: a mangrove swamp like those in India and Bangladesh, a snowy pine forest in the Russian Far East and a jungle river. Kids can find each place on a map while they color.
How do I color tiger stripes neatly?
Color the orange coat first with light, even strokes, then go over the stripes in black or dark brown last. Leave the belly, cheeks and the patches above the eyes white. Real tigers also have a white spot on the back of each ear.
