About these bee coloring pages
Honeybees and bumblebees buzz through these bee coloring pages, from a kawaii bee to a beekeeper at work. Ages 3 to 5 can start with one bee with bold stripes, such as a bumblebee landing on a daisy. A hive box, a honey pot or a ladybug friend joins in at ages 6 to 8, and older kids, 9 and up, can peer inside a busy honeycomb.
Grown-ups and teens can try the honeycomb mandala and a detailed wildflower patch full of insects. If you're planning a garden or insect unit, mix these with other bug coloring pages and ask kids to count the legs on each creature, since every insect has six. It's a quick way to tell bees from spiders.

Bee facts to share
- Honeybees do a "waggle dance" to show their hive-mates which direction to fly to find flowers.
- Honeybees have five eyes: two large compound eyes and three small eyes on top of the head.
- As bees visit flowers, they carry pollen from bloom to bloom, which helps plants make fruits and seeds.
Color idea: Alternate warm yellow and black stripes, tint the wings pale blue or silver, and fill honeycomb cells with a gradient from light gold to deep amber.
Bee coloring page questions
Are there other bugs besides bees on these pages?
Yes. Bees star on every page, but ladybugs, butterflies, beetles and dragonflies join them on a few designs, especially the expert wildflower patch. That makes the set a good fit for a wider bug or garden unit.
Which bee page works for a science lesson?
The hard honeycomb page shows a queen bee surrounded by workers, baby bees called larvae in their cells and capped cells full of honey. Use it to explain the different jobs inside a hive and how bees turn nectar into honey.
Which bee pages suit toddlers and preschoolers?
The easy pages: a kawaii bee with tiny wings and a bumblebee landing on a daisy. Both show one large bee with thick stripes and very little background, which suits children ages 3 to 5 and short attention spans.
