About these parrot coloring pages

Macaws, cockatoos, lovebirds and more perch across these parrot coloring pages. Ages 3 to 5 can color a macaw with a very long tail or a kawaii cockatoo with a fluffy crest. Kids ages 6 to 8 get a pair of lovebirds on a branch, and ages 9 and up can visit macaws at a rainforest clay cliff or a budgie on its play stand.

Teens and adults can try the feather mandala and a detailed African grey portrait. In class, use the perched macaw page to show how a parrot's feet hold a branch, then let kids try picking up a snack with two fingers in front and two behind, the way a parrot's toes grip.

Also in kawaii coloring pages.

Parrot facts to share

  1. Parrots have two toes pointing forward and two pointing back, which helps them grip branches and hold food.
  2. Many parrots can copy sounds, and some learn to repeat human speech.
  3. In parts of the Amazon rainforest, macaws gather at clay riverbanks to eat the mineral-rich clay.

Color idea: Go bold with red, yellow, blue and green on the macaws, try soft white and lemon yellow for the cockatoo, and save gentle grays with a red tail for the African grey.
