About these stocking coloring pages
Christmas stockings, from striped and stuffed to quilted and embroidered, star in these stocking coloring pages. Ages 3 to 5 get one big stocking with simple shapes, like a kawaii stocking with a smile or a striped knit stocking with a jingle bell. Ages 6 to 8 get a kitten napping in a stocking and a stocking overflowing with toys and treats, while kids 9 and up get full scenes of stockings along a staircase banister and a grandmother knitting by the window. Teens and adults can color a patchwork quilted stocking and an embroidered stocking with woodland animals.
For a quick classroom display, have each child color a stocking, cut it out and write their name on the cuff. Hang the finished stockings in a row along a string across the wall, or punch a hole near the loop and tie on ribbon so they can go home as decorations.

Stocking facts to share
- A famous Christmas poem from 1823 describes stockings hung by the chimney with care, which helped make the custom popular in America.
- In many families an orange or a tangerine goes in the toe of each stocking, a treat that was once rare and special in winter.
- Many families knit or sew a stocking for each person and sew a name onto the cuff, so the same stocking comes out year after year.
Color idea: Try classic red with a white cuff and green trim, or give every stripe, patch and pom-pom its own color, then add yellow for jingle bells and gold for stars.
Stocking coloring page questions
Which stocking pages suit preschoolers?
The easy pages are made for ages 3 to 5: the kawaii stocking with a smiling face and the striped knit stocking with pom-poms and a jingle bell. Each has one big stocking with thick outlines and almost no background.
Can kids add their names to the stockings?
Yes. The cuffs are left plain, so children can write their name or initials there before coloring. It turns each page into a personal stocking for the fridge, a classroom wall or a place card at the holiday table.
What colors are traditional for Christmas stockings?
Red with a white cuff is the classic look, often with green trim. Knit stockings mix red, white and green stripes, while quilted and embroidered stockings use many colors at once, so kids can choose their favorites.
